Northern Virginia Daily in Strasburg, VA upgrades Vision Data systems and adds new web application

February 5, 2008 - Rensselaer, New York – The Northern Virginia Daily (15,600 circulation), a long-time Vision Data customer, has recently invested in upgrading and expanding their usage of Vision Data Newspaper Publishing Systems. “Our decision to upgrade to the Vision Total Advertising System was a no brainer,“ explained Bob Storey, Director of Technology at the Northern Virginia Daily. “The ability of the technical staff at Vision Data to customize their workflow systems to meet our needs has helped us immensely adapt to the highly competitive business landscape in which we find ourselves. This new interface will integrate nicely with our Macintosh workflow, allowing us to leverage the power of Unix throughout our entire system.”

The Northern Virginia Daily, in Strasburg, VA, an independent daily newspaper, has utilized Vision Data Software in their business office and classified advertising department for sales and management for over 10 years. With today’s changing newspaper environment and heavy emphasis on the Internet and more comprehensive marketing solutions, they chose to upgrade to the Vision Total Advertising System, a graphical SQL system, which integrates all advertising sales and management functions into one comprehensive solution. The single database design provides more operating efficiency and the marketing/sales management tools needed in a challenging marketplace. Features such as E-Tears, E-Statements and E-Classified Resolicitation will save postage and print costs while increasing customer service offerings.

Additionally, The Northern Virginia Daily purchased VisionWeb Home Order Entry, which allows website visitors to place their own classified ads instantaneously into all print and web products. Advertisers can, after viewing various up-sell options, charge their purchases through a secure credit card system linked directly to the Vision Total Advertising billing system. A major factor in this purchase decision was that the web entry system is priced utilizing a common rating engine within Total Advertising, resulting in a single set of rates for the newspaper to maintain. Ads flow immediately into the running ad bank for instant approval and upload to the web and/or print editions without reformatting or modification and will also interface directly to their current ad tracking and layout systems. “Vision Total Advertising and VisionWeb are sure to become the weapons upon which we rely on to slay the workflow beast when it comes to integrating our Internet presence with our print-side products,” said Storey.

According to Thomas A. Dempsey, President of Vision Data, “We have built our business and our outstanding reputation in this industry through service to our customer base, resulting in unparalleled loyalty, particularly among privately-owned companies. We are very pleased to see that the Northern Virginia Daily has decided to make major re-investments in Vision Data and plan to continue to grow our relationship into the foreseeable future.”
