February 5, 2010 - Rensselaer, New York – Sandusky Newspapers, Inc. long-time Vision Data customer, has invested in upgrading and expanding their usage of Vision Data systems. The Norwalk (OH) Reflector, the Grand Haven (MI) Tribune, and the Sandusky (OH) Register have individually utilized Vision Data software in their business offices and classified advertising departments for sales and management for several years. Additionally, The Norwalk Reflector and Grand Haven Tribune have managed their circulation with Vision Data's Circulation application. Sandusky Newspapers, Inc. has chosen to continue to streamline operations in their Ohio division by moving the Grand Haven Tribune's server operations to their central site in Sandusky which already houses both The Sandusky Register and Norwalk Reflector. This initiative will build-in operational efficiencies and save on the cost of maintaining individual servers.
To facilitate this move, the Grand Haven Tribune is being upgraded to the Vision Total Advertising system, a graphical SQL system which integrates all advertising sales and management functions into one comprehensive solution. Vision Total Advertising is already powering the systems in the Sandusky Register and The Norwalk Reflector. The single database design provides more operating efficiency and the marketing/sales management tools needed in a challenging marketplace. Features such as Electronic Tearsheets, E-Statements and E-Classified Re-solicitation will save postage and print costs while increasing customer service offerings. Similarly, the Grand Haven Tribune, like its sister papers, will add VisionWeb Home Order Entry, which allows website visitors to place their own classified ads instantaneously into all print and web products. Advertisers can, after viewing various up-sell options, charge their purchases through a secure credit card system linked directly to the Vision Total Advertising billing system. A major factor in this purchase decision for all three newspapers was that the web entry system utilizes a common rating engine within Vision Total Advertising, resulting in a single set of rates for the newspaper to maintain. Ads flow immediately into the running ad bank for instant approval and upload to the web and/or print editions without reformatting or modification and will also interface directly to their current ad tracking and layout systems. Vision Total AP/GL is also being upgraded at the Grand Haven Tribune, to match the current systems at the Sandusky Register and The Norwalk Reflector.
The Grand Haven Tribune is also adding Vision Retail Ad Layout and upgrading Vision Classified Pagination, which will run locally with Internet feeds from the central server.
The Grand Haven Tribune and The Norwalk Reflector also purchased VisionWeb Subscription Management, which allows website visitors to subscribe to the papers, and existing subscribers to place vacation holds, comments and renew online. VisionWeb Subscription Management is integrated with their existing centrally hosted Vision Circulation. The web application saves in-house entry time, encourages new subscriptions and provides a 24/7 portal for circulation customer service.
According to Thomas A. Dempsey, President of Vision Data, “We have built our business and our outstanding reputation in this industry through service to our customer base, resulting in unparalleled loyalty, particularly among privately-owned companies. We are very pleased to see that Sandusky Newspapers, Inc. has decided to make major re-investments in Vision Data and plans to continue to grow our relationship into the foreseeable future.”
The Standard-Examiner (Ogden, UT), Johnson City (TN) Press, Kingsport (TN) Times-News and The Lebanon (TN) Democrat, additional Sandusky Newspapers properties, also utilize Vision Total Advertising for advertising management, VisionWeb Home Order Entry and Vision Classified Pagination systems. Vision Circulation and VisionWeb Subscription Management are also utilized at The Lebanon Democrat and Johnson City Press.
