March 17, 2010 - Butler, Pennsylvania – The Butler Eagle is upgrading from their legacy version of the Vision Circulation Management system to a new, graphical, relational database system, recently developed by Vision Data of Rensselaer, New York.
The Butler Eagle has been successfully handling the delivery of their 27,000+ newspapers using Vision Data's Legacy Circulation software, which provides sites with a economical sophisticated circulation/distribution network including home delivery via carriers and mail and a broad single copy/dealer program. The Eagle has chosen to upgrade to Vision Data's new Java-based open technology Vision Circulation Management system, adding functionality and flexibility to their operation, as they prepare to deal with the challenges of the new world of media.
The Butler Eagle also purchased VisionWeb Subscription Management, which allows website visitors to subscribe to the paper, while existing subscribers can place vacation holds, comments and renew or make payments online. VisionWeb Subscription Management is integrated with their Vision Circulation Management system. The web application saves in-house entry time, encourages new subscriptions and provides a 24/7 portal for circulation customer service.
When asked what factors weighed heavily on their decision to continue to use Vision Data's software to manage and upgrade their department, management stated, "the stability and comprehensiveness of the basic system and Vision Data’s technical competency and knowledge of the circulation business allowed us to be able to foresee the need for and implement a sophisticated program of this sort."
Thomas A. Dempsey, president of Vision Data says, "We are pleased to continue to grow with long-term customers like The Butler Eagle.
