May 16 , 2004 - ELLSWORTH , MAINE – The Ellsworth American, one of America’s best known and most respected traditional newspapers, today announced the selection of Vision Data Equipment Corp., Rensselaer, New York as their business partner for all of the “front-end systems of the newspaper.
The purchase includes the Vision Total Advertising System, which combines Display and Classified sales and Accounts Receivables management in a single database, Vision Data’s newest graphical Total Accounts Payable/General Ledger system, Pagination systems, and the Vision Data Circulation Management System. With this purchase, the Gazette joins hundreds of other newspapers, nationwide, relying on Vision Data Systems to totally manage their newspaper sales, accounting and distribution systems.
“The stability, reliability and company philosophy of Vision Data seems to reflect the traditional values upon which the Ellsworth American was built,” according to Terri Carlisle, general manager of the newspaper, “. . . not to mention the fact that their software out-performed anything else we looked at.”
“We’re excited and anxious to get started with this project,” added Carlisle. Installation will be phased in over the next 6 – 9 months, starting with advertising and finishing with circulation.
