Community Shoppers, Inc., Delavan, WI streamlines operation, moving toward CTP implementation with Vision Data Total Advertising system.

May 19, 2005 - DELAVAN, WI – Community Shoppers, Inc., publishers of several publications, delivered each Wednesday and Sunday to over 115,000 households in southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, has recently taken a major step forward with their investment in an entire suite of new software systems from Vision Data Equipment Corp., Rensselaer, NY .

The 25-user Vision Total Advertising sales and management system will handle all display and classified ad sales and billing, accounts receivable management, and sales management functions, including features for sales contact management from their main office and printing facility in Delavan. The system, running on a pair of Sun Solaris servers, will also be directly accessed by their remote offices in Janesville and Beloit, WI.

“We’re looking forward to installing the Vision Classified Pagination and the Vision Retail Ad Placement System, which will save many hours of work weekly and facilitate our movement to a full camera plate operation.”, according to Dan Pyfer, general manager of CSI.

The new Vision Data system will also include on-line real-time credit card verification for all sites as well as the Vision HomeLink ad placement system which allows customers to place and pay for ads directly from their home computers. Community Shoppers, Inc. has also purchased the Vision Electronic Tearsheet Module which will store the section and page of each ad and directly access their page storage system to simply and efficiently provide PDFs of finished ads.

The company, started by current president Steve Karstaedt’s father, Martin, in 1953, as a single weekly publication, has grown consistently and has expanded both the number and scope of its publications while concurrently building a viable and healthy commercial printing business.

At the end of the first week of management orientation training at Vision Data’s training center, last week, Cindy Karstaedt, Executive Vice President of Community Shoppers, Inc. commented: “This has been a major decision for us. We have been very slow and deliberate in our research and are now more confident than ever that we have made the right decision in selecting Vision Data as our long-term business software partner.”

The system is currently being installed with additional training scheduled over the next two months and a go-live date of July 1 for display and early August for Classified. Community Shoppers Inc. sees the next step in the process as the addition of the Vision Data Circulation Management System to handle the distribution of their products.

Vision Data Equipment Corp. has been serving publishers since 1975, and remains the longest running exclusive provider of publication software worldwide, with over 1,500 users. Vision Data's newspaper applications include Display Advertising, Classified Advertising, Layout and Classified Pagination, Web Entry, Circulation and General Ledger.
