August 28, 2006 - RENSSELAER, NY – Vision Data has completed installation of a 4.5 MB fiber optic network link that will serve as its primary internet connection. This will provide more than enough bandwidth to allow Vision Data employees to support its 500+ customers as well as improving the quality of the connection for Vision Data's ASP (Application Service Provider) customers. The link will be upgraded as needed to provide any supplementary bandwidth necessary as more ASP customers are added.
In addition to the fiber optic link, a high-speed microwave link has been installed. Together with an existing cable modem connection, these provide redundancy in case of primary link failure.
These upgrades, combined with the tactic of utilizing three different technologies for linking to the internet, are part of Vision Data's strategy to provide 24/7 support and always-on server availability for its ASP customers.
Our strategy also includes housing Vision Data's computer resources in a secured fire-resistant room and providing a local utility natural gas-powered backup generator which can provide power to keep Vision Data "on the air" for as long as necessary.
Vision Data takes seriously its responsibility to be a very secure and highly reliable facility for its customer's data and software sources.
