Shakopee, Hutchinson Minnesota add Vision Data Total Advertising, Circulation Management Systems

October 18, 2004 - RED WING, MINNESOTA – The Red Wing Publishing Co. today announced the purchase of complete new front-end software systems from Vision Data Equipment Corp., Rensselaer, NY for their Southwest Publishing Group, located in Shakopee, Minnesota, including the Eden Prairie News, Chanhassen Villager, Chaska Herald, Shakopee Valley News, Jordan Independent, Prior Lake American, Savage Pacer, Shakopee Mint, Chaska Mint, Jordan/Belle Plaine Mint, and the Excelsior Bay Times. The system will also run the Hutchinson, Minnesota newspaper group, which includes The Hutchinson Leader, The Galaxy, The Independent Review, Meeker County Advertiser, and The Baudette Region.

The initial installation will include the Vision Total Advertising sales and management system will handle all classified ad sales and billing, display ad billing and accounts receivable management. The system includes Vision Classified Pagination and the Vision Retail Ad Placement System. It will also include the Vision HomeLink ad placement system which allows customers to place and pay for ads directly from their home computers. The second phase of the installation will include the Vision Circulation Management System for both Shakopee and Hutchinson.

All of these systems, including remote offices, will be run from a central Sun Microsystems Unix Server, located in Shakopee. The system will include complete cross-selling functionality, centralized credit controls, but with separate General Ledger profit centers for Shakopee and Hutchinson.

Installation of the new systems in Shakopee and Hutchinson is scheduled for early 2005, with initial training scheduled for mid-January.
